Next Friday night, August 22nd, the Melody Tent is starting a new tradition: the Irish Rock Music Festival. With a lineup of world-renowned musicians, Irish dancing, and of course, award-winning Irish food, like Saw Doctors shows of years past, the festival is expected to be a night of excitement.
Opening the festival are two high-energy, Celtic bands taking their cue from bands like the Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly or the Young Dubliners. The Fighting Jamesons will be performing their biggest hits at the Irish Rock Music Festival like their renditions of “Drunken Sailor,” “Rocky Road to Dublin” and “Whiskey in a Jar.” Since their formation in 2009, they have shared the stage with legendary Irish rock bands such as the Dropkick Murphys and the Saw Doctors. We will also welcome Celtica: Pipes Rock to the festival on the 22nd. Their combination of traditional bagpipes with rock music makes their sound unique and unforgettable, the perfect addition to the Festival.
On the second stage, the Haley School of Irish Dance bring their most skilled Irish Dancers ready to take the stage.
The headliner of the Irish Rock Music Festival is none other than Grammy-awarded, Emmy nominated Eileen Ivers, one of the most talented fiddlers in the world. Her sound has been heard in the London Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops, she has guest starred in over 40 orchestras, and was awarded the All-Ireland Fiddle Champion 9 times. Her many accolades have given her the reputation as the pre-eminent fiddler on the Irish Music scene today, and she will be bringing those talents to the tent this summer.
We cannot wait to bring the Irish Rock Music Festival to Hyannis. An evening filled with talented musicians, cultural dancing and of course, food, we are anticipating a night that will be hard to forget. Get your tickets while you can!
